Our oldest expression to date, the 55 Year Old is the First Edition of The Glenlivet Eternal Collection. This remarkable whisky is a testament to craftsmanship and originality that has defined The Glenlivet since our inception in 1824. Only 100 exquisitely crafted bottles are available of this ambitious single malt.
EXCEPTIONAL TASTE
Crafted from a seasoned sherry cask and carefully matured over more than half a century – this precious single malt offers a complex flavor profile and astonishingly long finish.
A gentle sweetness of poached pears is harmonized with the heady citrus notes of ripe, sun-drenched Seville oranges whilst a deeper note of sticky dates ground the trio. These are matched in the deep warmth of toasted hazelnut and the indulgent richness of dark chocolate, finishing with the spiced warmth of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Deep and warming flavors of homemade blackcurrant jam, vanilla fudge, and dark chocolate, balanced with zesty orange and crystallized ginger before closing with a touch of warming clove spice.
Incredibly long, the finish is distinct and complex, evolving through fruit and spices to culminate with a subtle warming dry and spicy finish.
INSPIRED BY THE HOME OF THE GLENLIVET
Crafted in partnership with Michael Hansmeyer, the 55 Year Old whisky is encased within a striking sculpture that perfectly complements the spherical decanter. Hansmeyer’s sculpture is a tribute to the rugged Scottish landscape surrounding the Distillery and captures the flowing essence of the River Livet in the Spey Valley.
THE PIONEERING ARTIST
Michael Hansmeyer is a computational architect and programmer. He explores the use of architecture and art to fabricate new art forms. Using contemporary modeling through computer programming, Hansmeyer’s original sculpture is a stunning creation at the intersection of whisky craftsmanship and technology.
